ITINERARY

DAY 1: Kilemakyaro Mt Lodge

On arriving at Kilemakyaro Mt. lodge on a clear day you will be greeted by the glaciers of Mt. Kilimanjaro and it is only at this lodge where is possible to see both Mt. Meru and Kilimanjaro from your bed room.

DAY 2: Start of the hike

You’ll be served an early breakfast at the Kilemakyaro Mt. Lodge (1450m) and after your gears has been sorted out and loaded to the vehicle you will be driven to Marangu park gate (1800m) where you register your

personal details and passport number to the KINAPA office. Later your mountain guide will introduce you to your porters and assistant guide depending with the size of the group. You will also be handed with lunch package which will be taken on your way to Mandara Hut (2727m) which takes approximately 3hours.The Mandara Hut is situated on the forest belt border just below the Maundi crater (2800m) with a limited Accommodation, hot water, beer and soft drinks are available. Overnight temperature at the camp can reach freezing levels.

DAY 3: Horombo Hut

Breakfast at the camp is served very early and starts your 5hours trekking through the forest border where in a clear day you can get the first gorgeous views of Mawenzi (5149m) and the southeastern slopes of Kilimanjaro. You arrive at Horombo Hut early afternoon, these is one of those afternoon that you can use to amble through the area, rest or climb the ridge obstructing the breathtaking view of Mawenzi. Dinner is served at the camp mess and an early breakfast the next morning.

DAY 4: Kibo Hut

the trekking to Kibo hut is through semi-desert landscape of the saddle and you get to see the middle Red hill, West lava hill and East lava hill to the east and the Barafu hut camp (4600m) to the west. Half way through the saddle you stop for your packed lunch and later carry on to Kibo hut for dinner overnight. You will need to prepare yourself for the arduous summit bid is just before midnight when the temperature is well below freezing point.

DAY 5: Uhuru Peak

At midnight with instructions from your guide and depending with size of the group you start the first section of the ascent which will take about three hours up a winding rocky foot path to Hans Meyer cave (5150m). Because of the altitude, summit night is slow, strenuous and dizzying, with a short rest at Hans Meyer cave then you continue for another three hours up the steepest section to Gilman’s Point (5685m). You can have another short rest then carry on along the crater rim for about 45 minutes to Stella point. Temperature on the summit can be as low as -30 degree centigrade with wind and chill. About an hour past Stella Point you will be rewarded with the summit of mountain Kilimanjaro, Uhuru peak (5896m). The highest point on the African Continent. The morning offers the ultimate showstopper – stunning aerial view of the Spectacular glaciers illuminated by a hypnotic sunrise experienced only on the roof of Africa Mountain Kilimanjaro. Most climbers spend a few minutes on the summit taking photos before the three hours walk back to Kibo Hut. (4703m) for a short rest and then proceed down to Horombo Hut (3720m) for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: Marangu Gate

Just after your breakfast notes that the guides and the porters expect to receive their tips at the camp before descending to the park gate. You will walk for about three hours to Mandara hut (2727m) for lunch followed with a short rest then proceed through the rainforest for about two and half hours to Marangu park gate and again enter your particulars to the register book where you will be meet by your driver who will drive you back to Kilemakyaro Mountain Lodge for your big shower followed by award ceremony.
