Hoopoe is a beautiful bird, commonly feeds on the ground. usually seen in small noisy flocks. Common in the northern Tanzania National parks and game reserve: Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire & Manyara.
 

Other birds: Fischer's lovebird, grey-rumped spur fowl and  babbler-like rufous-tailed weaver. Parrots are forest dwelling birds. Although they have been documented in the mountain forest of Kilimanjaro and Meru, they are all over eastern arc mountains, especially Usambara and Udzungwa Mountains. Western forests, such as Mahale Mountain Forest National Park as well as Serengeti.
 

Bee-eater:  This specie is very colorful and nice to watch, usually perched on fences and trees. They feed on bees and wasps. There are about 4 types of bee-eaters commonly seen in Tanzania, they differentiate themselves by colors and size. commonly found in Lake Manyara, Highland forests, Usambara, Coastal areas and Southern Tanzania.

 
Fish eagles are usually seen on the trees near the water bodies. Skilled at fish catching. Excellent place to see them: Rubondo Island National Park Rufiji River and Ruaha National Parks. The river banks offer spectacular view of birds.
 
Crowned-Crane  a graceful, long legged bird, it looks like a stork and heron. Cranes are grassland dwelling birds. They are widely distributed in swamps, lake shores and grassland, commonly seen in pairs, small parties and flocks. Ngorongoro Crater harbour so many Carnes

Secretary birds: Unusual looking bird of prey found on the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, & Tarangire and Ruaha National park. It has a quill-like feather on its head, and it is so pompous when it stride. Secretary birds rarely fly and do so when absolutely necessary.

 
Ostrich: The largest bird in the world. It is the most well-known bird, Ostrich is flightless. Mostly found in the northern plain, that is Tarangire National Park and Serengeti,  and  Ruaha National Park in the south .however, they do no reside in  Mikumi National park or Selous Game Reserve.

 
Marabou stork, a scavenger normally seen with other vultures sharing a carcass. It has huge beak and the deep pink pouch swinging on the neck. Commonly see in almost all national parks and game reserves around the country.
 

Crowned-Crane is a graceful, long legged bird, looks like storks and herons. cranes are grassland dwelling birds. They are widely distributed in swamps, lake shores and grassland, commonly seen in pairs, small parties and flocks.
 

Other birds: Vorreaux's eagle owl, crested cranes, hornbill, whydahs, flycatchers, guinea fowl, woodpeckers, weavers, cattle egret and many types of vultures and scavengers  are all seen in Tanzania.

7 DAYS CANOEING, BIRD WATCHING AND GAME DRIVE

 
Day 1: Arrival

Arrive and picked up from Dar-es Salaam International Airport, Transfer to Peacock Hotel for Dinner and over night

 
Day 2: Transferred to Udzungwa

Drive Dar es Salaam to Kilombero Valley (Ifakara) for bird watching safari, the area that contains a remarkable number of bird species and plant ecology in Tanzania. Late evening drive to Udzungwa for dinner and overnight at Udzungwa Mountain Lodge.

 
Day 3: Bird Watching in the Kilombero Flood Plain

Morning after breakfast drive to Kilombero flood plain for half a day bird watching, with packed lunch; canoeing in Kilombero River and records bird species.

Late evening return to Udzungwa Mountain Lodge for dinner and overnight

 
Day 4 Hiking and Forest Bird Watching

Hiking Udzungwa Mountain and Forest bird-watching with packed lunch reach the waterfalls for spectacular view of the vast Kilombero Valley.  Overnight at the Lodge

 
Day 5 Foot-Walking Safari/ Transfer to Mikumi National Park

Foot-walking safari along the Ruiper River, which is famous for variety of wildlife, such as water buffalo and elephants. Afternoon drive to Mikumi National Park, late afternoon game drive in the park, dinner and overnight at Kikoboga Tented Camp/VUMA HILLS

 
Day 6 Mikumi Game Drive

Full day Safari: with Sunrise and Sunset game drive in Mikumi National Park, Dinner and overnight at Kikoboga Tented Camp/VUMA HILLS
 

Day 7 Return to Dar es Salaam

Early morning (sunrise game viewing) game drive. By 11:30am.and 12:00 AM start driving back to Dar es Salaam, lunch at Morogoro Town

TANZANIA BIRD WATCHING & WILDLIFE SAFARI 17 DAYS

This tour adds you the opportunity to explore Ruaha National Parks the Southern Highlands as well as the exploration of the shores of lake Victoria.

 
Day 1: Arrive Dar Es Salaam Airport, meet and transfer to New Africa Hotel.

Dinner and overnight.
 

Day 2: Early departure with packed lunches for Ruaha National Park. Afternoon birding and game viewing in the Park. We expect to look out for the rare Blue wax bill, Crested Barbet and many other southern dry Country species. Mammal list will include Sable and Roan Antelopes restricted to the South. Dinner and overnight at Mwangusi Safari Camp/Ruaha Wildlife Lodge.
 

Day 3: Morning game drive and Birding in the Park, return to the Camp for lunch and drive to Udzungwa. Accommodation in the Udzungwa Mountains is basic. Overnight Udzungwa Mountain View Lodge.
 

Day 4: The Morning is Spent in the forest where we search for the southern Banded Snake Eagle, Crested Guinea fowl, Red capped Robin chat. Return to the lodge for lunch. PM drive to Kilombero flood plains looking out for the Endemic Kilombero Weaver Kilombero Cist cola and the un-named Melodious Cist cola, other specialties here include the Coppery tailed Caudal and Black egret may also be spotted. Return to Udzungwa Mountain view lodge for dinner and overnight.
 
Day 5: Morning Drive to Mikumi National Park, doing the park the rest of the day, Overnight will be in a basic Lodge at Genesis Lodge Mikumi.
 

Day 6: Early morning doing the Kilosa woods for the Miombo wood lands species to include Red necked Wryneck, Kurichane Thrush, and a variety of many other Miombo woodland specialties. Return to Mikumi for an early lunch and drive to Morogoro town for overnight at Kulo Hills Hotel at the foot of the Uluguru Mountains.
 

Day 7: Drive Morogoro to mkomazi Game reserve stopping at various breaks en-route sampling bushes for birds and late evening settle at Mkomazi tented camp.
 

Day 8: Full day Mkomazi Game Reserve birding and viewing the endangered African wild dog, overnight Mkomazi tented camp.
 

Day 9: Drive Mkomazi Game Reserve to Tarangire national park. Overnight Tarangire Sopa lodge.
 

Day 10: Full day birding wildlife photograph in Tarangire national park. Overnight Taragire Sopa lodge.
 

Day 11: Drive Tarangire to Ngorongoro crater passing through the Scenic Lake Manyara Rift valley escarpment and picturesque villages of Karatu into the Ngorongoro highlands. Bird the crater rim for the shallow Tulaco, Broad bill and Negro finch. Rest of the day on the crater Tour expecting to view Tanzania’s only black Rhinos, Cheetahs, Lions and Leopards may be spotted. Dinner and overnight Ngorongoro Sopa lodge.
 

Day 12: After breakfast drive to the Serengeti plains Via the historical site of olduvai gorge visiting the pre-museums where the famous archaeologist Dr. Leaky discovered the first remains of man. Continue to the Serengeti following the wildebeest migration Routes towards your lodge, overnight Serengeti Serena lodge.
 

Day 14: Full day on the Serengeti plains searching fo rthe endemic Grey breast spur fowl and the Fischer’s love bird. Your Mammal list should be growing as you add up a wide range of carnivores and grazers on the Serengeti plains. Overnight Serengeti Serena lodge.

 

Day 15: Drive to Mwanza, arriving at tilapia hotel for lunch, we will bird around the Lake Victoria shores were we axpect to spot fresh water birds including the African skimmers and pink backed pelicans. Overnight Tilapia hotel.
 

Day 16: Spend entire day birding the lakeshore area. Overnight at Tilapia hotel.
 

Day 17: fly to Arusha on a schedule flight.

TANZANIA BIRD WATCHING TOUR 10 DAYS

Day 1: Meet and transfer to Liboru safari lodge for Dinner and overnight.
 

Day 2: The day begins with pre-breakfast birding aroung lodge grounds, sighting fire finches, variable sunbirds, bulbuls and Olive Thrush. Breakfast and head for Arusha national park with our packed lunches, visit the various crater Lakes catching up with the macoa ducks, Egyptian Geese, Hottentots teal, Comb duck and many unusual waders. The forest may reward you with trogons and orange bellied Parrots. After we have had our packed lunches we then drive out of the park to go out experiencing a walking safari north of Arusha, visiting Arusha’s only reliable site of white fronted bee eaters, then go searching for the rare spike heeled Lark. The evening seeing us back to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Impala Hotel.
 

Day 3: Early breakfast with our lunches packed, we drive the long journey to the Serengeti arriving in the evening. A variety of Sand grouses and guinea fowls will parading our way as drive to the lodge. Dinner and overnight Ikoma Bush tented camp.
 

Day 4: Pre-breakfast bird walk, searching for Tanzanian endemics in the Serengeti to include: the fischer’s lovebird and Grey breasted spur fowl. Return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast we then go out for the rest of the day birding and game viewing; the Usambiro barbets and the Grey capped social weaver should be displaying as we drive along. Returning in the evening to your Tented camp.
 

Day 5: After our breakfast, we drive Serengeti to Ngorongoro crater where our highlight will be the endemic refocus tailed weaver. If chance avails the golden winged Sunbird should be spotted as well as large flocks of both lesser and greater Flamingos on the soda Lake, a variety of raptors such as Battlers, Martial eagles, yellow billed kites, augur buzzards and black winged kites should be seen soaring above the skies. Many large mammals shall also be added on our list. Dinner and overnight Ngorongoro Sopa lodge.
 

Day 6: Depart the Ngorongoro conservation area after breakfast; drive into the jungles of lake Manyara. Lake manyara is a famous for tree climbing lions, large schools of Hippos at the Hippo pool and the maji-moto hot springs. You will then take your picnic lunch at one of the many picnic sites set aside by the park Authorities and then continue exploring the Lake manyara jungles, where a good list of wild life will be added to your previous record. Drive out of the park boundaries in the evening into Eunoto retreat Tanzania’s only true 5 star Luxury lodge set in a remote Maasai country where bird walks can be arranged.
 

Day 7: We will have an optional pre-breakfast bird walk around eunoto Retreat, after breakfast you will have the option to go out game viewing full day back in the Manyara jungles or just relax at your Balcony where birding opportunities are superb. You can then later join in a walk exploring the local surroundings where again you will have further chances of birding for waders and a mix of dry country species as well as meeting up with the local people.

Day 8: Day the begins with an early breakfast, then drive to Tarangire with our packed lunches, the highlights of the day is searching for the Tanzanian endemics again that will include the Rufus Tailed weaver, yellow collard lovebird and Ashy stirling. Dinner and overnight at the Tarangire Safari lodge.
 

Day 9: Full day exploring Tarangire plains. In addition to the many Birds spotted, Tarangire has the highest concentration of Elephants per square kilometer in east Africa. We will return to our lodge for dinner and overnight.
 

Day 10: Depending on flight arrangements, we may have an opportunity birding and game viewing in Tarangire before we return to Arusha for our outbound connections.

BIRD WATCHING TOUR 8 DAYS

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Liboru safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
 

Day 2: Our day begins with a brief Bird walk around the lodge gardens, then drive from Arusha Via Moshi the base of mount Kilimanjaro through the dry country side of Hedaru where we stop for a local Bird walk with aims of finding dry country specialties such as the Taveta golden weaver and the Black bellied Bustard, we then transverse the old rock system of the pare mountains into the famous Usambara ranges for lunch at the Lawns hotel Lushoto. After lunch we straight go into hiking the magamba Rain forest trails searching for the rare and other Tanzanian endemics to include the Usambara weaver, Usambala Akalat, dapple throat and many green bulls- we then aim at returning to our lodge at dark with chances of finding the nocturnal and endemic Usambara Eagle Owl. Dinner and overnight at the Muller’s mountain Lodge.
 

Day 3: After breakfast we again do the forest trails aiming at finding species not identified the last evening, return to the lodge for an early lunch, leaving as with time to drive to the Amani in the evening in time for dinner at the Amani Rest house.
 

Day 4: Full day east Usambara with exploration of the Tea Eastates at Karamjee. East Usambara is home to many other un usual species which we will be discovering on one of our various forest walks; the uluguru violet backed sun bird and the endemic little green sun bird as well as the small Amani sun bird could be identified. Others will include forest species such as a variety of turacos, sunbirds, Brown bulls, Trogons and Green Bulls. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the Amani Rest house.
 

Day 5: After the excitement in the mountain forest, we drive to moshi for lunch at the Marangu hotel at the base of mount kilimanjaro. If the wether is good, you may have chance to see the snow iced peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The evening brings us back to Arusha at the Iliboru safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
 

Day 6: This day will be spent in Tarangire park adding up the list on the Tanzanian Endemics with the endemics Ashy starling and the Yellow collard lovebird.

Lunch and dinner at the Tarangire Porini luxury Tented lodge.
 

Day 7: Full day exploring Tarangire Park for Birding. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
 

Day 8: Tarangire, Arusha and rest of the day spent in Arusha National Park depending on flight arrangements. P.m. flight home.
